The colour is medium deep golden-yellow. Nose is restrained. Even closed, showing characteristic of dried herbs. Needs time to open up. Dry on the palate, with fuller body and plenty of ripe acidities which are giving its own hallmark. Vibrant with oily texture. There is plenty of tension and persistence on the palate leading to a lingering finish. A cool climate Chardonnay does now want to stand out play solo but will rather support the accompanying dishes. In style it is between the elegance of 2018 and richness of 2017. Give it its time to excel.
Grilled seafood, fish and shellfish, Wiener schnitzel pork and poultry.
Vintage 2020 is second in a row, where harvest times were stretched well into October, which was very much a normality 20-30 years ago. Prolonged ripening was allowed enabling grapes to achieve perfect ripeness giving wines with medium to low alcohol levels retaining high acidity levels and varietal characters. This are all attributes which wines from Štajerska Slovenia are famed for. We speak of 2020 as a classic Styrian vintage.
