Medium deep golden colour. Restrained and refined, varied nose showing white flowers, butter, hawthorn also some apricots and touch of charred wood – very much in Burgundy style.
Dry on the palate, medium bodied, with a pleasant slightly oily texture. Higher acidities are quick to tell the cool climate origin of the wine and the native variety which is expressing it very well. It is much more opulent on the palate compared to the nose. The character is intense with plenty of tension and persistence. A premium expression of a mature Furmint from a great vineyard and a classical vintage.
To be laid down!
Raw or slightly roasted sea food, such as scallops or salad with soft cheeses.
Cold April and May broadcasted a rather late harvest, but a very hot June almost completely compensated the delay, though not completely. July and August were warm but not hot and nice weather in September enabled grapes to be picked well into October. 2019 brought very good yields and quality is very dependent of the skills of the winemakers. At Dveri-Pax we are very happy with the results. We produced classic wines with profound varietal aromatic profiles and moderate alcohol levels typical for the region.
18 months in big Slavonian oak. Lees, stirring.
Fully mature, can be approached now but will be gratifying for at least 10 more years until about 2030.
